Definition
Insurance covering injuries to an HOA's employees or, in some cases, uninsured workers on its property.
Workers' compensation covers medical costs and lost wages if an association's employee is injured on the job. Even HOAs without formal employees can face exposure if an uninsured contractor or casual worker is hurt on community property, which is why some carry a policy defensively.
Requirements depend on state law and whether the association has employees. Confirming that vendors carry their own workers' comp — via certificates of insurance — is an important complementary protection.
