Definition
The rights that determine who may vote in an HOA and how much weight each vote carries.
Voting rights define which members may vote and how votes are weighted. In most HOAs each lot or unit carries one vote, but some communities weight votes by unit size or ownership interest.
Governing documents also address whether owners who are delinquent may vote, how co-owners cast a single vote, and whether cumulative voting applies. Clear voting rights are essential to fair, defensible elections.
