The board officer responsible for overseeing the HOA's finances — budgets, reporting, and financial controls.
The treasurer is the board's financial officer. They oversee the budget, monitor income and expenses, ensure accurate records, present financial reports to the board, and help safeguard the association's funds and reserves.
The treasurer doesn't have to be an accountant, but they should understand the community's financials well enough to explain them and flag problems. Strong financial controls and clear monthly reporting are the treasurer's most important contributions.
