The process of putting forward a candidate for election to the board.
A nomination is how a candidate is formally put forward for a board seat. Communities may accept nominations in advance of the meeting, from the floor during the meeting, or both, depending on the bylaws.
Announcing open seats early and letting candidates share a short statement helps members make an informed choice and produces a board that better reflects the community, rather than whoever happened to attend.
