Definition
An individual condo-owner insurance policy covering the unit interior and belongings not covered by the HOA's master policy.
An HO-6 policy is insurance a condo owner buys to cover what the association's master policy does not — typically the unit's interior finishes, improvements, personal belongings, and personal liability, plus loss assessment coverage.
How much an owner needs depends on the master policy type: with "bare walls" coverage, the owner is responsible for much more of the interior than with an "all-in" policy. Boards should help owners understand the gap so they insure it appropriately.
